                                 Frequently Asked Questions

Q : Could I talk with a technician about my telephone line wiring project without giving out my name and address?

A: Yes, you can key in your phone number and one of our techs will call you. Your home city helps us know who is located nearest to you. Your name is optional, so our tech could ask for you when he calls. We only want to rewire or install your telephone wiring, we neither sell nor rent nor share your information with others. We respect your privacy.

Q: Not having to take a half-day of my vacation and worry about the phone company not showing is wonderful, but I’m still uncomfortable about a stranger working on the phone wiring in the evening.

A: Please ask for a weekend wiring appointment or ask some friends or relatives over, the more potential phone wiring customers, the better.

Q: I'm planning for a second phone line and a second phone jack. I was surprised to see someone other than the phone company wiring a second phone line jack?

A: The Telecom Act of 1996 gives you the choice of who works on the telephone wiring on your side of the interface (next to electric meter). The phone company will bring your second phone line to the interface box, then it's your choice to do the wiring work yourself, call the phone company to do the inside wiring work, hire an independent contractor,    or have Ablejack telephone wiring refer our technician to you.

Q: Should I use the yellow and black wires for my second line jack?

A: As of July 2000, the use of old-style, red-green-yellow-black (four conductor) "quad" telephone wiring is no longer permitted for residential   or commercial jobs according to the Federal Communications Commission  The FCC ruling, which specifies Category 3 or better wire for all new and retrofit phone line wiring, was developed to ensure that homes and businesses are adequately prepared for the demands of voice, video and data transmissions, now and into the future.
